Discover Philly is a pre-arrival experience designed to help you feel prepared, inspired, and excited to become part of the Temple community and the city that surrounds it. Along with two peer leaders, you will join other new students to participate in a 2 day experience that speaks to you most.
You will have the opportunity to:

🏙️ Our North Philadelphia Neighborhood
North Philly isn’t just where Temple is — it’s a community with a rich legacy of culture, activism, and innovation. This experience invites you to walk the neighborhood, hear its stories, and explore how to be a respectful, engaged member of the Temple and North Philadelphia community.
🎨 Arts on the Parkway
This experience introduces you to the city’s vibrant arts scene and helps you think about how you might engage creatively and culturally during your time at Temple. This tour will show you the power of the arts to shape your college journey.
✊ Civil Rights in Old City
Dive into the deep civil rights history rooted in Old City, where centuries of activism continue to shape our world today. You’ll explore stories of resistance, resilience, and change and reflect on your own role in advancing social justice as a Temple student.

Yes, you will need to register online since space is limited. The program costs $25 per person, with an option for a fee waiver if cost is a barrier. To be considered for a fee waiver, please email orientation@temple.edu.
Yes! Comfortable walking shoes, appropriate attire depending on weather, and spending cash if desired.
