First-Year Orientation

As a new student, you will attend a First-Year Orientation to meet new people, learn how you can get involved as a Temple student, and register for courses.

What is First-Year Orientation?

It’s a full-day experience - either in-person or virtual, depending on your distance from Temple's Main Campus in Philadelphia.

  • Students with a home address 150 miles or less from Temple's Main campus will participate in in-person First-Year Orientation
  • Student with a home address more than 150 miles from Temple's Main campus will see options for both in-person and virtual First-Year Orientation.

Regardless of your the mode of Orientation you are attending - your experience includes the following: 

  • Academic advising and registration for courses

  • Connecting with an Owl Team Leader, who is a current student and will answer your questions about Temple

  • Meeting other new students in the Class of 2029

We’ll also have other opportunities for you to meet new people and learn about campus resources at the start of the semester as part of Weeks of Welcome.

When is First-Year Orientation?

First-Year Orientation sessions will take place between June 30, 2025 and July 31, 2025. The dates available to you are based on your school and college and distance from campus. You will see a list of currently available dates for you when you log into the reservation system via your TUportal Next Steps channel.
