Next Steps

Once you submit your Enrollment Deposit, there are several important steps you’ll need to complete to prepare for your first semester at Temple.

Beginning in mid-March, you will receive an email letting you know when your Next Steps checklist is available in TUportal (typically within two business days after your deposit is processed). This checklist will guide you through the required onboarding steps for new Owls.

Some steps will only become available after you complete earlier ones, so you may see new items appear in your checklist over time. We encourage you to review your checklist regularly and complete each step as soon as it becomes available.

Explore the list below for an overview of what to expect.

Please note: Students who have not paid a deposit will not receive our emails. Deposits can be paid electronically through your Applicant Portal.

1. Activate your Temple University AccessNet account.

You will need an AccessNet account to log into Temple University systems. If you can log into TUportal, you have already activated your AccessNet account.

If you have never logged into TUportal, visit the Account Management website and click on the option on the right that reads Activate AccessNet account. You will need your nine-digit TUid number (example 916xxxxxx) to activate your account. Please check the email address that you used on your application for account activation instructions and your TUid number.

If you have forgotten your AccessNet credentials, visit the Account Management website to obtain your AccessNet username and/or reset your password. Once on the website, click on the option on the right that reads I cannot log in.

If you have an issue with your AccessNet account that you cannot resolve on your own by visiting the Account Management website, please call the Information Technology Services Help Desk at 215-204-8000 for assistance.

2. Complete placement assessments (if applicable)

Placement assessments are used to help students get started on the right academic track and must be completed (if applicable) before you gain access to additional Next Steps, including making your RSVPs for New Owl Advising and Registration and the New Owl Experience sessions.

3. Duo Mobile Two-Factor Setup

Secure your Temple Account! You'll register your phone and install the Duo app. You'll need to do this before you can upload your OWLcard Photo and set up OWLcard Mobile for access to Temple buildings and services.

You must use a computer (not a mobile device) to complete setup!

 

4. RSVP for New Owl Advising and Registration

Your first advising appointment where you will meet with an academic advisor and register for fall classes.

You must complete any placement assessments (if applicable) before you can make a reservation for your New Owl Advising and Registration session. 

5. RSVP for the New Owl Experience (first-year students only)

Temple’s summer onboarding program where you’ll connect with other new students and get to know the Temple community. 

You must complete any placement assessments (if applicable) before you can make a reservation for your New Owl Advising and Registration session. 

6. Complete New Owl Foundations: Part I

Short online modules that introduce you to Temple’s academic structure, your school/college, and academic advisors role in your success.

You must complete any placement assessments (if applicable) before you can gain access to New Owl Foundations: Part I. 

7. Submit your OWLcard photo

The link to submit your photo for your OWLcard is in your TUportal Next Steps channel. See the OWLcard photo submission requirements for additional details.

Before gaining access to this step you must complete:

  • placement assessments (if applicable)
  • Duo Mobile two-factor setup
  • RSVP for New Owl Advising and Registration
  • RSVP for New Owl Experience (first-years only)
8. Complete New Owl Foundations: Part II

Short online module that introduces you to Temple and campus resources and opportunities available to you as a Temple Owl.

You will gain access to this step beginning in June and after completing:

  • placement assessments (if applicable)
  • RSVP for New Owl Advising and Registration
  • RSVP for New Owl Experience (first-years only)
9. Set up OWLcard Mobile

Set up OWLcard Mobile for access to Temple buildings and services using your phone.

Before gaining access to this step you must complete:

  • placement assessments (if applicable)
  • Duo Mobile two-factor setup
  • RSVP for New Owl Advising and Registration
  • RSVP for New Owl Experience (first-years only)
  • Submit OWLcard photo
