Next Steps Before Registering
Below you will find an overview of steps for Summer 2021. Please check back soon for updated details about Spring 2022 Orientation.
There will be a number of steps that must be completed before registering for an Orientation session. If you have committed to Temple University by submitting your Enrollment Deposit, you will be notified via email once these steps are available!
Step 1: Pay University Deposit
Deposits can be paid electronically through TUportal or mailed to the university with the enrollment deposit form included in the acceptance packet. Mailed deposits can take up to 14 business days for the university to receive and process.
Please note: Course Registration and Placement Assessment information is emailed to deposited students. Students who do not pay a deposit will not receive our mailing and emails.
Step 2: Activate Your Temple University AccessNet Account
If you have not already done so, log in to TUportal and follow the instructions in the pop up window to activate your AccessNet account.
If you have not used TUportal or do not see a pop up when you log in, visit the Account Management website and follow the instructions for new students on the bottom right of the screen. You must activate your account in order to proceed. Activating your account includes setting up a permanent password.
If you experience problems activating your AccessNet account please contact the Information Technology Services Help Desk at 215-204-8000.
Step 3: Activate Your Official TUmail Account
Log in to TUportal with your AccessNet username and the new password you created when activating your account. In the MyPortal tab, locate the list of links on the left under the TUApplications and click TUmail. Accept the terms and conditions for use of your email. You can also go directly to the TUmail website to read your university email at any time.
Please note: All emails from Temple University will be sent to your TUmail account.
Step 4: Submit your OWLcard Photo
The link to submit your photo for your OWLcard is in your Next Steps Channel. See the OWLcard Photo Submission Requirements for additional details.
Step 5: Complete Placement Assessments (if applicable) and the New Student Questionnaire (required)
Deposited students will receive an email from our office in their TUmail accounts notifying them that the Placement Assessments and New Student Questionnaire are available through the Next Steps Channel on the TUportal 2-3 business days after your deposit has been received. Step 6: Complete Temple Preview online
Temple Preview is an online glimpse into life at Temple University. This pre-orientation module will walk you through information related to your experience as a Temple student.
Once Temple Preview becomes available in April, you will be able to complete it in the Next Steps Channel on your TUportal 2-3 business days after your University Deposit has been received.
Step 7: Register for Orientation
The directions to register will be sent to your TUmail account 2-3 business days AFTER completion of Placement Assessments, the New Student Questionnaire (NSQ), and Temple Preview. A link will appear in your TUportal in the Next Steps channel when you have the ability to register. You will receive a confirmation email 24-48 hours after you register. If you do not receive a confirmation email, you likely did not register correctly. At any time, students can check their registered session in their TUportal.
