Virtual Parent and Family Orientation
Virtual Parent and Family Orientation helps families prepare for their students' transition to Temple. Through webinars, panels, and resources, families can connect with campus partners and learn how to best support their student(s).
Virtual Parent and Family Orientation includes:
- Spotlight Series: weekly emails highlighting campus resources.
- Ask the Experts webinars: Ask questions to department representatives.
- Family-to-Family panels: Gain insights from Temple Family Council members.
- Ask an Owl panels: Get student perspectives on the Temple experience.

In-person Parent and Family Orientation
Join our in-person Parent & Family Orientation to:

- Meet university staff and administrators
In-person Parent and Family Orientation is a full-day program designed to help families learn more about campus resources, student support services, and what to expect during their student(s) transition to college. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. (EST), and programming concludes around 5:00 p.m. (EST). A detailed schedule will be shared with registered guests prior to their session.

Parent and Family Orientation FAQs
Yes! All Spotlight Series Posts are available for you to review in the Parent and Family Experience Portal at any time.
Families are encouraged to attend the same in-person session as their student. In-person Parent and Family Orientation takes place during New Owl Experience. Students must register for New Owl Experience through their TUportal, and families should select the same date.
Yes. A nominal $10 fee per family member includes lunch, materials, and parking. We encourage you to eat breakfast before arriving!
If you have concerns about the registration fee, please contact [click-for-email] to request a fee waiver.
While children 12 and under attend for free, the program is not designed for young children, and separate activities are not provided.
Overnight housing is not provided for family members. Families are encouraged to book with a university-approved hotel for discounted accommodations. Overnight Early Arrival is provided for students. More information can be found here.
Virtual Parent and Family Orientation includes webinars, panels, and digital resources available throughout the summer. In-person Parent and Family Orientation provides opportunities to visit campus, connect with staff, and engage with other Temple families.
Yes, you may make changes to your registration based on availability. A link to change your registration will be provided here soon. If you have any issues changing your date, please contact parents@temple.edu or call (215) 204-8531 for assistance. Note: Parents and families are encouraged to attend the same in-person date as their student’s New Owl Experience.
Families and students will attend some portions together, but most sessions are designed specifically for either families or students. This allows each group to receive information tailored to their experience.
Parking information and directions will be shared prior to your scheduled Parent & Family Orientation date.
We recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle, and any questions you may have (make sure you check the weather before arriving!). Pens will be provided.
