Thanksgiving Host Program

Thank you to our volunteers!  The Thanksgiving Host Program is full for 2017!

Many international students stay on campus during the Thanksgiving holiday and would love to have the opportunity to experience this special day with a local family. The meal provided, the hospitality shown, and the personal invitation into a home or apartment are all fond memories that will stay with these students for years to come! Not every culture routinely welcomes others into their private homes; our students particularly enjoy this day because it is seen as so typically “American.” It doesn’t matter if you have a tiny apartment or a huge home; it’s your warmth and hospitality that truly matter.

This fall, we have the opportunity to support Temple students in an even greater way. Unfortunately, a number of our students, both international and American, were impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. To demonstrate our support for these students, we have opened our Thanksgiving hosting program to any impacted student who would otherwise not have a place to spend this special holiday. This program has always demonstrated to Temple students the personal, friendly nature of our country. This year in particular, we have an opportunity to demonstrate our collective passion for helping members of our community who are in need.

There are typically more student requests for placements than hosts, so your support for this program is very much appreciated. Please note that hosting a minimum of two students is required for participation in the program. If you would like to make this opportunity available to a student, please share your information with us via the form below. Additionally, if you know of anyone in the community who might like to participate in this program, please feel free to pass along this form.

Please contact Leah Hetzell, Assistant Director of International Student Affairs at intl@temple.edu with any questions.
