International Student Thanksgiving Host Program

Many international students stay on campus during the Thanksgiving holiday and would love to have the opportunity to experience this special day with a local family. The meal provided, the hospitality shown, and the personal invitation into a home or apartment are all fond memories that will stay with these students for years to come! Not every culture routinely welcomes others into their private homes; our students particularly enjoy this day because it is seen as so typically “American.” It doesn’t matter if you have a tiny apartment or a huge home; it’s your warmth and hospitality that truly matter.

This is also a great way for you to play a valuable role in international relations and to impact how our country is viewed abroad. Hosting is one of the best ways to show our international students the real United States and to reveal the friendly, more personal side of our country. As the number of international students at Temple University has increased, so has the number of students interested in annual event. We typically have more student requests for placements than we can fulfill, so your support for this program is very much appreciated. Please note that hosting a minimum of two students is required for participation in the program.
